This was my second or possibly third visit to Jokulsarlon whilst in Iceland a couple of years back in search of great light. The first visit was notable by the wet dense ground level fog. It was obvious that it was an impressive site but great photographs were definitely not to be had. Fortunately on this visit, the Gods were on my side. I would have preferred a long silky exposure but the ice was moving just too fast and some of the bergs were absolutely huge! Had I not had endless gear fogging issues, and been a little less in awe of the landscape, I’d ideally have combined a long exposure of the sky with a quick sharp exposure of the foreground. Alas it was not to be, but I love this image nonetheless.
I could give you a lengthy bio and artist statement, but who really cares about all that anyway? So here's the concise version: I am a simple man who loves making photographs and spending time with my wife and young kids. I am a Scot living in England. They call me a sassanach. I call myself a Manc. I am fortunate to be able to spend a good amount of time on personal projects, traveling and collaborating with a team of great people. I make my bed in Altrincham, Cheshire and am a sucker for assignments where I have the opportunity to travel, but I just love making photographs anywhere. Cheers Neil
