One November weekend I decided to make another trip up to the Lakes. It was one of my better planned trips, though despite all my careful scheduling and route mapping, the elements, unsurprisingly, fought to conspire against me. I hadn’t seen any photographs from this particular spot online but after detailed analysis of Ordnance Survey maps and Google satellite imagery, I figured that it was worth closer inspection. It was a schlep up from the car park in the dark in pouring rain but, never one to balk at adversity (ha!), I ventured on. I seriously doubted whether anything was going to happen and as I finished my second or third brew before heading back down again disappointed, the faintest gap in the clouds began to appear followed shortly by vague glimmers of sunshine. I hurriedly unpacked my gear and set up, fingers crossed, only for the most beautiful soft light to appear on the far end of the lake.
I could give you a lengthy bio and artist statement, but who really cares about all that anyway? So here's the concise version: I am a simple man who loves making photographs and spending time with my wife and young kids. I am a Scot living in England. They call me a sassanach. I call myself a Manc. I am fortunate to be able to spend a good amount of time on personal projects, traveling and collaborating with a team of great people. I make my bed in Altrincham, Cheshire and am a sucker for assignments where I have the opportunity to travel, but I just love making photographs anywhere. Cheers Neil
