Elgol is one of those quirky little spots in the UK that can really take your breath away. Aside from the primary school, which is right on the shoreline at the top of the narrow beach (I really can’t imagine what it must be like to work or study there in the middle of winter!), there is a small harbour and no more than half a dozen houses. But the view over Loch Scavaig to the Cuillin mountains is spectacular, especially when the tops have a dusting of snow on them. It was July when I made this so sadly there was none of the white stuff and the sun didn’t set until well past my usual bed time but I waited out on the beach for something to happen. It did. It got dark, and I got cold but that was about all that happened.
I could give you a lengthy bio and artist statement, but who really cares about all that anyway? So here's the concise version: I am a simple man who loves making photographs and spending time with my wife and young kids. I am a Scot living in England. They call me a sassanach. I call myself a Manc. I am fortunate to be able to spend a good amount of time on personal projects, traveling and collaborating with a team of great people. I make my bed in Altrincham, Cheshire and am a sucker for assignments where I have the opportunity to travel, but I just love making photographs anywhere. Cheers Neil
